“Because of what you told me, I ate two yummy cockroaches.” The boy told me straight faced.
“You misunderstood me,” I replied. “You need to fry bugs before you eat them.”
Samantha received a full scholarship to attend school and she loves it. We are told she is a born leader. A few weeks ago, I was given the opportunity to share at Samantha’s new school, here in Florida, about what it’s like to be a missionary in Asia. There are about 40 students from Kindergarten to 12th grade. The kids asked me a lot of questions about the food, so yes, I had fun sharing about eating fried tarantula, steamed bamboo worms, batwing soup, and many other Asian delicacies. When I was finished sharing my intense adventure stories, the Principal, who is also the pastor’s wife, asked me to give an altar call. Around 18 young people asked Jesus into their lives. One girl asked her parents why they hadn’t told her before about Jesus and she is now bringing her family to church.
Finish the Task Missions Conference
On October 27, Sean will head off to Ohio to teach on the unfinished task of the Great Commission at the Finish the Task Conference. The coming revival doesn’t need political change but hearts changed. Please pray that the needed $400 in travel expenses will come in for this trip.
YWAM Staff Conference
When Sean returns home, Anne and the six YWAM Tampa Bay staff will attend the YWAM Regional conference. Please pray the money for this comes in. Sean and the kids plan to party while mom’s away!
Arts for Jesus: Yeshua and Ben Hur
One of the reasons missionaries travel overseas is to bless their homeland. Through daily discipleship of Thai’s we were discipling our loved ones back home by modelling faithfulness to the most important command of Jesus to Go into all the world. Now that we are back for a season, we have found a great need here.
To efficiently shine the spotlight back on Jesus, we have found the arts to be an effective communication tool to portray the love of Jesus. Therefore, YWAM Tampa Bay has created the musicals Yeshua and Judah Ben-Hur. In January, actors, dancers, musicians, techies, and others will join with YWAM Tampa Bay to rehearse these Jesus centered musicals.
In February, we will begin performances in America and in March they are schedualed for performances on five weekends. Already, thousands of people have accepted Jesus after watching the musical Judah Ben Hur.
We are praying if Sean should join the next tour of this Jesus-Centred Musical ($2,000) or if Anne in the kids should also go (+6,000), or if none of us should go. Sean is needed as a technical advisor, videographer, and, once again, to perform the comedic role of Simonedes. Anne would understudy for the lead role of Mirjam. If artistic expression of the Gospel has ever touched your heart, then pray if you are to sponsor the Sanborn’s or any other member of this amazing evangelical tour. If you have creative talent then please contact us for the next round of auditions.
Anne’s American citizenship
When God first called us to YWAM Tampa Bay after 12 years church planting in Thailand, we thought that the reason was to pursue Anne’s American citizenship. But since that time the Lord has revealed other reasons.
- The ministry is really growing but needed people with our skills in cross-cultural evangelism, web design, maintenance and administration. As training and outreach director I get many opportunities, not only to train and lead teams but also to minister in churches and conferences.
- It’s good to finally have a chance to start getting healthy. We hadn’t realized how much our health had deteriorated over the years. We are now exercising more, and cutting out processed foods and carbs from our diet. And as an added bonus we are now loosing a lot of weight.
- Sean’s parents founded YWAM Tampa in 2007. As their commitments have increased, they have needed our help taking on the administrative and maintenance issues facing our mission base.
- Please pray that Anne’s US Residency appointment on Oct 22 goes well.
On October 11, I, Sean will fly to Virginia to meet some mission pastors. Currently our income is about $12,000/year. Please pray and ask God how you can support our ministry. It would be such a blessing if 20 individuals could support us at $50/month.
The Naga Queen Novel is nearly done
Since Anne was pregnant with Samantha, I have been diligently working on a book titled The Naga Queen. I’ve been told it’s wise to write what you know. Since I’ve spent the last 19 of my 42 years living in Thailand, I wrote a novel about missionary kids who survive whirlpools, war, and dragon attacks in Thailand. And everyone knows how many dragons I've fought. I really want kids to have an alternative to the Harry Potter series. To read chapter one of my book click here.
We realize that in this economy a lot of people and churches would love to support missions but are financially overextended. One of the ways we have been able to stay on the field has been through part-time contract work. In order to make ends meet, Sean does some technical contract work and we have become affiliates of some products that we believe in. If you purchase any the linked discounted products then it will help us generate revenue allowing our family to remain in full-time ministry. It may not be the best use of my time to stand in front of Win-Dixie trying to sell cupcakes in competition with the Girl Scouts. If the tent-making links I have posted offend you, then please don't unsubscribe but let me know and I will come up with another plan.
Contact me and I'll show you how to make money with Lyoness.
Thank you for all your love, prayers and support!
