Dear Friends and Family,
Networking
Since we have been back we have spent lots of time meeting with friends. We have been strategizing how we can be best used to bring the love of God to the people of Thailand. These relationships are invaluable to us. Not just in terms of talented strategy partners but these are people who we trust that we can go to with personal struggles as well.
Frontier Missions Church Planting Conference
I, Sean, spent a week in a Frontier Missions conference studying methods of starting Church Planting Movements and focusing on the Storying methods with a group called “One Story.” I had several epiphanies about how to effectively bring about multiplication, and am hoping to implement some of these new strategies soon. Anne has been leading worship and will begin gathering the worshippers together at the end of the month. She hopes to be able to form a worship team to work alongside the Church Planting teams as we travel to different provinces in Thailand.
Teaching at the DTS
Then the Chaing Rai DTS (Discipleship Training School) asked us to teach them on hearing the Voice of God. I prepared a week’s worth of notes (bilingual), knowing that I only had 2 days to teach, since my mom and brother would be finishing out the week. It worked out well because they used my notes for their time of teaching later in the week. It was a lot of fun getting to know the students, especially after class. As I taught, I was excited to realized that I am becoming an increasingly more effective speaker as I rely less on my notes. It has taken me over a decade to unlearn the bad habits of over-precision drilled-in-to-me in University.
YWAM's 50th anniversary
We spent 3 days at the celebration of YWAM’s 50th anniversary. It was very encouraging and fulfilling to hear Loren and Darlene Cunningham talk about the founding values of YWAM. Anne had the privilege of being one of the female soloists for a song written specially for the 50th Jubilee in Chiang Mai. We pulled together an International Choir comprised of DTS students and Kings Kids (Missionary Kids), and had a blast in the process.
Family Visit
Ellen and David arrived just in time for Samantha, Timothy and I (Sean) to get the flu. Anne has been fighting it off and is still fine. Mom came and babysat, cleaned the house, did the dishes, prepared food, while still preparing for teaching and concerts. Mom’s are great that way. Timothy’s fever has gotten worse the last couple of days with his temperature peaking several times at 103F and the medicines given us aren’t working very well. Please pray for him.
Financial Miracles
Recently, I have been very stressed about money. Last year we visited several churches in the States who indicated that they would consider our request for support, but we still have not heard from them. About a week ago, as I went to have my quiet time, I couldn’t pray other than just desperately cry out to God for “Help.” This month we only received US$785 dollars. Our rent plus our truck insurance came out to US$705 and we still needed to pay for gas (typically $100), electricity (typically $100), water, food, etc… Then I injured my back and discovered I have a compressed disk. The evening after I had prayed, a 17-year-old Missionary Kid friend felt led by God to give me a gift of US$30. I felt a strong encouragement from God that this was the beginning of His answer to my prayer and that everything would be fine. Then the next day US$600 came in miraculously from an unexpected source. All together it was exactly what we needed to cover our lack, even for our medical bills and medicine. Even though we only have financial commitments for 1/3 the amount we truly need, following God’s voice to return to Thailand was clearly the right decision. Faith can be a terrifying faith-building roller coaster. Often the roller coaster makes me nauseous. But we do know that we are firmly in His care as we diligently do all that He leads us to do. I’d much rather trust in God’s logic than my own any day.
It’s so good to be home.
In His Precious Name,
Sean, Anne, Samantha & Timothy

Thanks for Praying
